The stress is becoming more manageable…

Filed under: All Things Wedding — by corazondeswiss @ 9:38 pm

I booked a photographer today.  I’ve a couple of reception sites picked out.  I’ll try and go this week/end to look at them.  I’m beginning to relax (a little).
My mom finally figured out how freaked I was about the whole thing and offered to make some calls today.  Thank God.  She told me last night “This is supposed to be fun, not stressful!”  Riiiiiight.  So far it’s been freaking me out- a lot of the venues I have called either won’t hold the number of people we are estimating, won’t allow us to serve alcohol, are already booked…
But today my mom talked to a hotel that is affordable, will do a room block for the guests, allow alcohol (we are thinking of having a set amount of beer and wine and the hotel has a lounge for those who don’t want the beer or wine).  I don’t want an open bar- I’ve been to some open bar receptions and I think people tend to get out of hand, and its a lot of money to spend on something that people don’t always finish before they get the next one because they’re not buying.
I heart the photographer.  She’s going to suit us perfectly and I think I’m going have her do our engagement photos as well.  That way she’ll meet us (as a couple) and get to know us before the wedding.  Meeting her got me excited about the wedding again.  The last few days I’ve been so worried about the reception site, that I haven’t been excited about it. I feel like a ginormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders!
