Reunion

Filed under: It's All About Me — by corazondeswiss @ 7:51 pm

I pay my debts, so here is a post about my HS reunion.
Friday it rained off and on all day because Tropical Depression 10 had arrived on the coast of Florida.  We met at the high school to decide about going to the football game.  Due to the off and on of the rain all day, vetoed the idea of sitting at HS football game in the rain.  While I’d consider doing it for the G@tors, I’m not going to do it for my HS team.  Sorry guys.  So we went to dinner with some of my friends and headed to the beach cloub where others would join us later.  Several hours (and weak/watered down) drinks later.  But by midnight I had had all I could take and asked my guy to drive me home.
On Saturday the weather was the same for the picnic as it was for the football game, so it was moved inside.  Inside a very small room not designed for small children that a few of my classmates had.  By the end of the picnic, I was begninning to get nervous because I had not seen more than a handful of people and I graduated with over 300.
Saturday evening we arrived at the hotel location for the banquet and found tables set for a total of about 50 people.  It was very nicely done and our principal was there (long retired and his health is not very good) and spoke.  I almost cried when he spoke because he is still as cute as he was back then.  A couple of the teachers were also there and that was great too.  However, on the projector screen, instead of the photos of high school and that people had sent in, they had the Alabama v. Georgia game.  Y’all, I’m being totally serious.  I’m devoted to college football, but even I can miss a game for something like my 10 year reunion.
The deejay played a weird mix of songs, and we only danced a little, which was disappointing because I really enjoy it.  But it was overall a good evening with old friends (and my most favorite guy).
And here are the pix…

Working it out

Filed under: In Sickness and In Health — by corazondeswiss @ 8:12 pm

I have been remiss in my blogging, but I have been Oh So Tired when I get home in the evenings.  Because I have been getting up at 5:30 in the morning to be at the gym by 6:00. Where I take an hour class or do 50+ minutes on the elliptical cross trainer.
I did it one day last week when I had to go in late to stay late.  So I did the hour class and then did the cross trainer.  Showered there and went on to work.  And I liked it.  I’ve been going during the work week since then.  It frees up my evenings to do other things, and to have some down time at the end of the day.  I don’t have to talk myself into it at the end of the day.
I am not a morning person.  I would love it if the workday didn’t start until 10:00.  And yet here I am, getting up at 5:30, getting my workout clothes on and hitting the gym by 6:00.  AND I LIKE IT!   People, what is wrong with me?!  Who is this person and what has she done with my real self?!

So, I’ve been shopping for a dress to wear to my HS reunion.  And a wrap.  And shoes.  I need to  get accessories.  I’m putting the pix here so y’all can help me decide about jewelry, etc.
So, without further ado here is the dress…

And the shoes…

The wrap is a black pashmina blend.  What do y’all think about jewelry?

Ch-ch-ch-changing

I’ve been doing some reorganizing around the Casa de Swiss.  Changing some category names, reorganizing some posts into the new categories.  I’m trying a new theme out, so let me know what you think about it.

Confession is good for the soul

Filed under: Swiss Cheese is Holy (Confessions) — by corazondeswiss @ 6:48 pm

I have a confession.  This little paragraph describes me:
“A southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself, but prefers for the gentlemen to do it because it demonstrates respect.  She knows how to make sweet tea and grits while telling you everything about any football team in the SEC.  She picks her battles fights with the heart of a pitbull while still maintaining grace and elegance.  Her mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered Southern belle who could direct an army, loves her mama and will always be her daddy’s little girl. “

It’s all true. Especially the part about SEC football.  One of the best things about Labor Day weekend is the return of college football.  I love college football.  I love college football with a passion.  It is by far one of my favorite times of year.
On a Saturday morning during football season, I can be found eating my breakfast while watching ESPN’s College GameDay and then watching most of the games on TV.  My first priority is to see watch the G@tors.  Second is other SEC teams and friends’ teams.  Followed by rooting in anyone against FSWho?.  I have been known to yell, jump up and down, find/call someone else to see if they can believe what just happened.  I am an armchair coach.  I generally do not like to go to sports bars because I think its not becoming to yell at the tv in public. Its one thing to do it at home, but out in public, not so much.

In a little less than 2 weeks I am going to G’ville to see the G@tors play Tennessee.  I am very excited about this trip.  There is nothing like a home game.  Walking through campus, tailgating, seeing the Orange and Blue everywhere.  Pre-game with the band.  And my favorite part, the video leading to the team running out of the tunnel.  I can’t describe it…cheering with 90,000 other fans.  I just can’t wait!

Labor Day. Take two.

Filed under: I'm sew creative! — by corazondeswiss @ 7:45 pm

I think my blog hates me.  I spent forever last night trying to resize the photos so they would fit.  So I’ve tried again today.  They may be too small now, but let me know what you think, because I will try again (Anything to please my readers!)  And yes, GFF that is G@tor fabric!

Now I’m annoyed.  I had a post all written for y’all.  Complete with pictures!!  And the freaking interweb ate it.  So, I bought my little sewing maching on Friday and I’ve been playing with it on and off all weekend.  I’ve got an official lesson Thursday afternoon so I can learn all the little details.  I love it and I am so excited to have it.  Here is it’s first official picture.

And this is the fabric for my “Quilting 101” quilt:

And this is the fabric for my flannel “raggy” quilt (it will probably make more sense when I finish it and you see the finished product.

And the fabric I bought today to make a quilt for CP’s parents for Christmas.  I know it’s only September, but I am sure it will take me a while and I want to have it done in plenty of time.

I had more than this written, but since the interweb ate it and I’m annoyed, you’ll have to take the pictures and I’ll try to recover the rest of the post for later.
