Stars…

Filed under: The Fam — by corazondeswiss @ 6:21 pm

Perhaps they are not the stars,
but rather openings in heaven
where the love of our lost ones
pours through
and shines down upon us
to let us know they are happy.
~Eskimo Legend~
The above poem is in memory of my sister’s friend Ashley Elizabeth who was killed in a motorcycle accident on October 12th.  Which was the morning I left on my trip.  My sister called, crying hysterically while I was getting ready to leave for the airport.  My mother left immeadiately after dropping me off to go to my sister.  I contacted friends in G’ville to go to my sister while my mother was on  the way.  Coincidentally this October 12th is the 5th anniversary of my maternal grandfather’s passing.
I flew home Monday but not as scheduled.  (That is literally a post in and of itself.) And attended funeral services on Tuesday.  So my time off was longer than anticipated.  I truly enjoyed my visit with my friend and I promise I will get to posting (with pictures!) about the trip.  But I did want to share with my interweb friends the reason why I have been slacking off since I got back.
In loving memory of
Ashley Elizabeth 6/18/87-10/12/07
Papa 7/22/30-10/12/02
…two more stars in heaven.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about that sad loss – so young! 😦 My thoughts are with her family, and yours.

  2. Sometimes you have to wonder why people you know are taken. And why you’re still here. Its always a mystery. I try to remind myself to live like I mean it everyday.
