This one time, the cat was under the bed…

Filed under: Uncategorized — by corazondeswiss @ 1:31 pm

Saturday,  CP and I went out to look at chairs for our living room.  When we’re going out like that, we like to put the cats on the porch with their litter boxes, so that there are no accidents and also to prepare them for eventually being out there most of the day when I go back to work full time.  Frick hightailed it under the bed and headboard as we were making preparations to leave, so I got down on the floor to coax him out.  I hear CP come into the bedroom to ask me if I wanted him to get the cat out.  I told him no, I would get Frick out.  So I ease the cat out from under the bed.  And tell CP to take him.  I roll over and look up to hand the cat to my husband, who is wearing….
OVEN MITTS.  Because he doesn’t want the cat to bite him.  (For the record, I don’t think Frick has ever bitten anyone.)
I laid on the floor and laughed for 5 whole minutes.  Because I couldn’t get up.
Y’all there is nothing funnier than looking up from the floor, where you are trying to get the cat out from under the bed, and seeing your husband standing there, waiting to take the cat from you, wearing oven mitts.  Picture it.  You’ll laugh.

I know owe you all kinds of updates.  But, I just need to say it again: I GOT MARRIED!!  And it is awesome.  And I don’t have long, so I am going to buy your forgiveness with pictures.  These are teasers from the photographer, who should be finished editing and posting them for me tonight.  So I’ll have more in a few weeks, and I’ve got lots to tell you until then anyway.  We did go to Hawaii for the honeymoon after all!

If this week gets any worse…

I just might lose my mind.  We lost the house today.  You know the house that CP spent $600 on a plane ticket for me to see so we could put in an offer after I saw it?  Too late.  Someone else beat us to the punch.  I am heartbroken.
And after waiting a month to see a specialist, my nurse practitioner sent me to the wrong one.  So I have to start calling Monday to get in with the right one.
But CP has talked with someone at the courthouse and Monday, we’re getting a marriage license.  Yay!

I would apologize for not writing and updating sooner, but peoples I am totally stressed out.  I don’t know which way is up, CP and I are fighting (although our pre-marital counseling is going well, and our minister thinks we’re going to only do 3 sessions instead of 4).  I have the big appointment with the endocrinologist on Friday and we’re going for dress alterations on Monday.  We have to get our marriage license soon and CP is throwing wrenches in my plans and timelines left and right.  Also, have I mentioned we are house hunting? I still have lots and lots to do for this wedding.  Ugh.

So here are the details in no particular order:
We’re house hunting- CP has seen a house we both like (although I have only seen it in pix and online).  I want him to put in an offer.  He wants me to come down there- (I would have to fly, its an 8 hour drive- spending what I would consider to be an unnecessary expense) and see the house. Ugh.  And honestly, I am so tired thinking about it.  I am not sure if we are going to work on this option or not.  He’s looking into it.  He would like to postpone our house hunt until I get there. I consider this to be not just a no, but a hell no.  Months ago, when I agreed to go there, I said so long as we have a place to live that’s not yours (as in the the apartment he’s lived in for 3 years).  Of course, he waited until the last minute.  As usual.  So of course, we’re both stressed.  We have had a rough weekend over the phone.  We just might be able to work it out, before we get married.

I’m tired of being asked if I’m excited.  Yes, of course I am excited.  But also tired, stressed, scared, loved, blessed, and tired.  Post on this later.

Mom and grandma have dresses. Post on this later.

Endocrinologist appointment on Friday.  Will update you on this later.

Exhaustion is ever present as is increased stress level.  Going to bed.  No further update needed.  🙂

I spent my afternoon emptying, washing and refilling litterboxes.  I’m a dog person.  And I have 2 cats.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my cats.  Frick and Frack are great, most of the time.  When one of them is waking me up at 4:30 in the morning on a Saturday, or cleaning up poop, pee or vomit,  the love is not as strong.  But the snuggles at bedtime or when I’m watching tv, are great.  And the kitty who sleeps at my feet and keeps them warm….yay!  All that lead in to tell you how a dog person ended up with 2 cats…
Once upon a time, Swiss was getting her master’s degree, taking her first real job and living all by herself for the very first time.  And because she didn’t want to live all alone, she decided she’d get herself a cat.  (Make sure you note, I said a cat.) So Swiss’s mother tells her that a client of hers has kittens that his barn cat brought in from the cold.  And asks if Swiss would like her to ask if she could have one of them.  Swiss thinks it would be a good idea and says sure.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and Swiss’s mother calls while Swiss is at lunch meeting CP’s family for the first time to say the 2 little kittens are so, so cute and one would be lonely when Swiss was at work.  Wouldn’t it be great to have 2 cats so they could keep each other company? Does Swiss want her mom to call and ask if she can have both kittens? So Swiss says, sure, why not?
So Swiss got Frick and Frack:

I never made them get in the trash can, they did it of their own free will.

They even help at the computer!

And they help with laundry!

Traveling and Arriving

Filed under: Random Cheesiness,Uncategorized — by corazondeswiss @ 7:30 pm

As I said in my earlier post, day one of my trip started off not quite the way I planned.  The flying part was easy- my flights were all on time, I even arrived early to my final destination!  Because my first flight was so early I watched the sun come up from the sky.  And I was wistful…thinking of Ashley and how this was just the first time that the sun would rise without her on earth.  I thought of how lucky I was to be traveling, and visiting my friend.  (Traveling alone leaves one lots of time to think.) I also spent lots of time on the phone with friends and family between flights in the airports.  (Plugged into the wall because I drained my phone battery.)
I read when I was on a plane or not on the phone…a book called Reconstructing Natalie.  I wasn’t totally sure about it, but I ended up really liking it.  Eventually after 3 flights and hours on the phone, in 3 airports and one book later I arrived at my destination.
First, check out how Frick tried to prevent me from leaving:

I took these first 2 pictures from the plane.

I loved the dots of color of the trees that had changed from the ones that hadn’t.
That evening, we went to a Tapas restaurant and enjoyed Flights of Wine (5 different types of wine- small glasses that add up to 1.5-2.5 glasses).  I had the Local flight which consisted of 5 glasses of wine from local wineries.

Yummy desserts!
After our dessert we went back to her house and watched What Not to Wear and Grey’s Anatomy on her DVR. Perfect way for old friends to spend the first night of our weekend.
I don’t want to crash my blog with pictures so I’ll post again with more tomorrow.
